Company “Alumina” is located in the Industrial zone of Zvornik, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 
It has road and railway connection eastwards with Šabac and Belgrade, and westwards with Tuzla, Doboj and Banja Luka, as well as by roads with Sarajevo on the south and in the direction of north with Brčko and Bijeljina. 

The main activity of the Company is the production of  alumina, hydrate, zeolite and water glass.

What makes Alumina company unique

Alumina Ltd is the only company on the West Balkan and south part of the Middle Europe which is processing bauxite by Bayer's process and producing different types of hydrates and alumina.

The Bauxite for the production is supplied from the mines in the vicinity using the advantages of its quality, in terms of the micro impurity and content of organics.

What makes Alumina Ltd in advantage is a certain kind of symbiosis of several types of productions. In addition to the basic products like hydrates and different types of alumina, the Company in its production area produces different types of zeolites, sodium silicates and liquid “water glass”. 

The advantage of interconnection between these processes reflects through big energy savings, because for the production of different types of zeolites are used prepared, heated, solutions from the production of alumina and production of sodium disilicate, unlike the competitive companies which have to prepare those solutions from purchased raw materials, requiring additional energy, time, technological equipment, human resources, etc. 

The second benefit of interconnection between these processes is that solutions obtained as ballast during the production process of zeolites (certain types of filtrates) can be successfully applied in the process of alumina production. In this way the costs of the production process are reduced.

Alumina Factory was released into operation on 6th October 1978 and in the period 1984 - 1989 has paid a special attention to a development of products in the area of alumosilicate chemistry. During that period five plants were built, which beside raw material resources, are also using Alumina factory's infrastructure. 

Company, in its immediate surroundings, has available all the necessary raw materials, i.e. bauxite and quartz sand, and supplying with energy is fully assured. 

Fully equipped workshops and laboratories are enabling the performance of various services in the field of mechanical and electrical - installation, repair and testing of process, electro energetic, electro-insulating protective equipment, testing of mechanical properties of construction materials, etc. 

The Company also has a chemical laboratory that performs physical-chemical analysis for the control of raw materials and finished products, and which is also a teaching base of Technological Faculty in Zvornik. 

The current development direction is focused on product range expanding, in the field of aluminosilicate chemistry based on local resources - energy, raw materials and infrastructure.
